  • This weekend, GC Champ Jimmy Centers will put fighting before friends
    This Saturday in Elko, Gladiator Challenge Amateur Light Heavyweight Champion Jimmy Centers will be put in a rather unique situation: he’ll be defending his belt against a close friend. Standing on the other side of the cage this weekend at “DIRECT HIT” will be sometimes-training partner and good friend Justin Stayley. Centers trains at the Fighters Asylum in Elko, and Jeff Watson is the owner and trainer.

     

    I spoke with Centers recently to get his thoughts on the bout, and how difficult it is to fight someone you know so well, and who knows you just as well.

  • Is Mousasi next for King Mo?

    Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal made a huge impression in his StrikeForce debut, dominating grizzled veteran Mike Whitehead en route to a decisive TKO victory. Post-victory, he sprayed RockStar Energy Drink all over the cage in a show of support for one of his sponsors. For his actions, he was fined 10% of his purse.

    Nevertheless, big fights are on the horizon for the charismatic young star.

  • StrikeForce's Challenger Series coming to Bay area
    StrikeForce is bringing its “Challenger Series” event back to Northern California, as the prospect-focused event will make its San Jose debut on Friday, February 26th at the Civic Auditorium. The main event will feature South African middleweight Trevor Prangley (22-5), who trains part-time with San Jose’s American Kickboxing Academy, taking on top French fighter Karl Amoussou (11-2-1). Also showcased will be a women’s bout between undefeated Sarah Kaufman (10-0) and Takayo Hashi (12-1). The winner of that scrap will be awarded the first-ever StrikeForce Women’s Bantamweight Championship belt.
