‘MVP’ Draws Main Event Duties For Bellator London 2

Bellator MMA’s upcoming event on Nov. 23 from inside SSE Arena in London, England, officially has its headlining act, as the promotion revealed earlier today that welterweight finisher Michael “Venom” Page will square off against Derek Anderson in the main event.

You may have thought that a middleweight clash between Fabian Edwards and Mike Shipman had a chance to headline the November card, but Bellator MMA smartly decided to bolster its return to London.

Although he got knocked out of the Welterweight Grand Prix Tournament earlier this year, Page (15-1) bounced back in only the way he can — taunting rival Richard Kiely then destroying him with a flying knee at Bellator 227 last month. Owing to that easy win over Kiely, Page was unscathed and able to take this quick turnaround fight against Anderson (16-3, 1 NC).

Oddly enough this Page vs. Anderson bout was originally scheduled for 2017, but “MVP” withdrew due to injury and then spent more time fighting with Paul Daley at the event than his original opponent. Assuming both men are able to stay healthy over the next month and change, “Barbaric” will finally get his long-awaited fight with Page.

Despite being a highlight-reel fighter, Page can not afford to take Anderson lightly. Career wins over knockout artists like Saad Awad and Patricky “Pitbull” Freire show that Anderson’s a fine opponent for ”Venom” inside the Bellator cage, and anything less than his best form could leave MVP empty handed when it’s all said and done.
