Ex-UFC flyweight Jose Torres to face Marcel Adur for title at Brave CF 29

Jose Torres set his sights on gold from the start and will get the opportunity to collect another belt.

Torres (8-1) will take on Marcel Adur (15-5) for the vacant Brave Combat Federation title at Brave CF 29, which is set to take place Nov. 15 in Bahrain, sources told MMA Junkie on Monday.

Torres, a UFC veteran and former Titan FC flyweight and bantamweight champion, notched a unanimous decision win over Amir Albazi in his Brave CF debut in April and will look to cap off the year in hopes to add another belt to his collection.

Prior to signing with Brave, Torres split his two UFC appearances. Following a loss to Alex Perez, he was surprisingly released from the promotion. It happened during the time of uncertainty for the UFC’s 125-pound division, as he was one of several flyweights to get cut.

Training out of American Top Team, Torres previously stated his intentions to capture both the flyweight and bantamweight titles at Brave and will begin his pursuit with 125 pounds, when he takes on Brazil’s Adur.

Adur fought undefeated Velimurad Alkhasov for the vacant Brave flyweight title in November 2018, but he ended up losing a unanimous decision. Alkhasov missed weight for their contest and was unable to be crowned champion despite getting the win. The title remained vacant and will be contested one year later, when Adur gets another crack at becoming champ.

Adur rebounded from his loss to Alkhasov, going the distance for just the second time in his career, defeating Marlon Derik at Brave CF 25 in August.
