Conor McGregor to hold press conference Thursday in Moscow

Conor McGregor is heading to arch-rival Khabib Nurmagomedov’s home country.

After posting a picture on Twitter of himself obtaining a Russian visa last week, “The Notorious” will be holding a press conference this Thursday in Moscow. The event will be organized by online sports betting site “Parimatch,” of which McGregor is a brand ambassador.

“McGregor will meet with reporters on October 24. This is the first such event involving McGregor in Russia,” a press release announcing the event stated, via McGregor’s website The Mac Life.

“Perhaps he will make statements about his imminent return to the octagon,” it continued.

McGregor recently launched his Proper No. Twelve whiskey in Russia earlier this month and will most likely be promoting his brand during the press conference. Media and fans will be in attendance, where McGregor will likely address his fighting future.

McGregor made headliners over the weekend, having been named by the New York Times as the subject of a second investigation into an alleged sexual assault in Ireland, the latest in a string of run-ins with the law this year.

The last time McGregor was seen in the octagon was more than a year ago, when he lost to Nurmagomedov via fourth-round submission at UFC 229. Since then, he has been campaigning for a rematch. His appearance in Moscow could be to try to bait Nurmagomedov in.

Lightweight champion Nurmagomedov, on the other hand, is coming off a third-round submission win over Dustin Poirier at UFC 242, notching his second successful title defense. He has hinted at a March return, saying that McGregor needs to get in line, while Tony Ferguson is most likely next for a title shot.

McGregor and Nurmagomedov, however, have recently gone back and forth on social media, sparking up their rivalry once again.
