Welcome to the Salty Spitoon, how tough are ya’? “I once had a heart attack and walked myself to the hospital.”

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight champion Randy Couture, who also held gold at 205 pounds, suffered a heart attack on Wednesday in Los Angeles, where he remains hospitalized in intensive care.

That’s according to a report from TMZ Sports.

I’m assuming the hospital is right around the corner from the Unbreakable MMA gym where he was training, since we live in an age where Uber and Lyft are readily available in every major city. I’m not sure how else to explain Couture’s decision to walk himself to the emergency room.

“The Natural” is expected to make a full recovery.

Couture, 56, retired in the wake of his knockout loss to Lyoto Machida back in early 2011. Despite his late success as a heavyweight, the fighter known as “Captain America” is perhaps best known for his 205-pound trilogy against longtime rival, Chuck Liddell.

UFC inducted Couture into its Hall of Fame in 2006.
