Jason Jackson will feel like a free agent until he wins Bellator gold

UNCASVILLE, Calif. – Jason Jackson finally has a home. But that doesn’t mean he’s satisfied.

Friday, Jackson (10-3 MMA, 1-0 BMMA) takes on former Penn State wrestler and current welterweight contender Ed Ruth (7-1 MMA, 7-1 BMMA) on the main card of Bellator 231.

After a stint on “The Ultimate Fighter,” a shot on “Dana White’s Contender Series,” and an LFA welterweight championship reign, Jackson signed a multi-fight deal with Bellator earlier this year.

“I still feel like a free agent,” Jackson told MMA Junkie at a pre-fight media day Thursday. “You never what’s going to happen after this. I’m just a soul just roaming. Whatever comes, I face it. I go about it.”

Jackson said he doesn’t feel he’s accomplished much in his career. He indicated that won’t change until Bellator gold is wrapped around his waist.

“Whenever I have everything I desire,” Jackson said. “I don’t see no belt on me. I don’t see no money in my hand. I don’t see a big crowd of people right now saying, ‘Jason, you the best.’ Obviously, still more work here to be doing.”

Bellator 231 takes place at Mohegan Sun Arena. The main card airs on Paramount and streams on DAZN following prelims on MMA Junkie
