Ben Askren left Singapore Indoor Stadium on Saturday with a second loss on his record, but at least he has $50,000 extra to show for it.
Askren and Demian Maia each were awarded a “Fight of the Night” bonus for their UFC on ESPN+ 20 headliner, which Maia won by third-round submission via rear-naked choke.
Askren and Maia weren’t the only fighters to come away with extra cash, as Ciryl Gane and Beneil Dariush each earned a “Performance of the Night” bonus for their respective submission victories.
Gane scored the latest submission in UFC heavyweight history by tapping out Don’Tale Mayes via heel hook at the 4:46 mark of the third round.
UFC on ESPN+ 20 drew an announced crowd of 7,155 fans in its fourth trip to Singapore.
