Bellator 232 winner Kevin Ferguson Jr. eyes Corey Browning rematch: ‘Let’s get a rivalry going!’

UNCASVILLE, Conn. – Kevin Ferguson Jr. bounced back into the win column with a quickfire TKO finish at Bellator 232 and immediately called for a rematch with the last man to defeat him.

“Baby Slice” (4-2 MMA, 4-2 BMMA) made short work of Craig Campbell in their 160-pound matchup at the Mohegan Sun Arena, ending his opponent with a series of elbows to continue his 100 percent finish rate, and Ferguson said he was happy with how his latest appearance panned out.

“I was being patient, you know?” he said backstage after the fight. “I didn’t want to rush anything. I saw my opportunity, and I hopped on it. I’m a 100 percent finisher. I’m going to finish, especially if you’re hurt or I see any slight of you being hurt or staggered. I’m a finisher, so the fight will get finished, for sure.”

Ferguson lost on his MMA debut back at Bellator 165 in November 2016, but bounced back and set off on a three-fight winning streak, all by first-round finish. But that run was abruptly halted by Corey Browning at Bellator 207 in October of last year.

When asked who he’d like to face next, Ferguson said he’d love to run things back with Browning and build a rivalry between the pair.

“Oh, man, rematch!” he grinned. “I want Corey Browning, man. It’s like a callout, so put that out. That’s a callout, for sure. I definitely want that rematch, and we might as well start a rivalry. All the older guys are starting to retire, and there’s no good rivalries right now, so let’s get a rivalry going. Let’s do it!”

And after a short, but sweet victory at Bellator 232, Ferguson said he can’t wait to get back into the Bellator cage and compete again.

“I was out for a year – that’s a long time – but I got better,” he said. “As soon as possible. I’m gonna talk to my manager and Bellator and see what they think, but I’m going back to training next week. I’m just staying at it now.”
