Video: Masvidal Invites Fans To Throw Hands During UFC 244 Open Workouts

Before Jorge Masvidal burst onto the professional mixed martial arts (MMA) scene, “Gamebred” made a name for himself in the street fight world in the backyards and alleys of Miami, Florida.

As one of the late Kimbo Slice’s hand-picked fighters, Masvidal had several legendary bouts against a man called Ray (which you can see here). And earlier today, Masvidal took it back to his roots, selecting fans from the audience to throw down against each other at the official UFC 244 open workouts in New York City. Of course, it was a less-violent version than Masvidal’s street fights — the fans used boxing gloves and were only allowed punches to the body.

Ultimately, Reed Harris stepped in to put a halt to the action after several fans got opportunities to show off their skills. It was a good thing, too, as they likely didn’t sign waivers and UFC could have faced a lawsuit if someone wound up hurt.

That said, it was fun while it lasted.

Masvidal will look to become the official “baddest motherfucker” in the game when he faces Nate Diaz in the main event of UFC 244.
