Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion, Conor McGregor, was back in Dublin District Court on Friday morning (Nov. 1, 2019) to answer for the assault charge levied in the wake of his pub meltdown back in April.

“Notorious” plead guilty and was fined a WHOPPING €1,000, according to The Journal.

Helping his cause was the fact that his victim, Desmond Keogh, refused to make an impact statement and preferred to just put the matter behind him after getting a public apology from the power-punching Irishman. While “sorry” doesn’t carry much weight in terms of the law, it certainly helps during sentencing.

McGregor was facing up to six months in jail.

“What I did was very wrong and I’d like to apologize again to the injured party and today before the court and assure you that nothing of this nature will happen again,” McGregor said.

With this mess behind him, “Mystic Mac” can focus on his Octagon return, which is expected to take place this January in Las Vegas. An opponent has not been named at this time; however, lightweight veteran Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone is considered the lead candidate.

Assuming McGregor can go another two months without getting arrested.
