Anthony Smith calls out Corey Anderson: Sign the contract or be humble and shut your mouth

Corey Anderson is in the running for a light heavyweight title shot, but Anthony Smith says he has to go through him first.

Anderson (13-3 MMA, 10-3 UFC) made a statement at UFC 244, when he knocked out rising star Johnny Walker in the first round and has demanded a shot at the title vs. champion Jon Jones, or he wants his release.

But former light heavyweight title challenger Smith (32-14 MMA, 8-4 UFC), has issued a challenge to Anderson, alluding to the possibility of the UFC putting together a potential matchup between the two of them.

And he had some strong words for Anderson.

@CoreyA_MMA look at you now tough guy. You finally put someone away and now you talk (expletive) to a barely ranked dude after you finish him? I hear my name is coming across your desk…sign it this time and I’ll do the @ufc a favor… or sit down, be humble and shut your mouth.”

Since losing to Jones at UFC 235 for the title, Smith bounced back with a fourth-round submission win over Alexander Gustafsson in June, earning him a UFC on ESPN+ 11 “Performance of the Night” bonus. Following the win, he underwent multiple hand surgeries, and he now looks to make his return in early 2020, preferably against Anderson.

With Dominick Reyes also in the running for a title shot, we could see this matchup after all, unless Anderson sticks to his guns, and it’s title shot or bust.
