Covington: Praise Veterans, Not NBA Commies

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight title contender, Colby Covington, wants the American people to pay their respects to the veteran heroes who fought on behalf of the United States of America, because without them, we might not be able to enjoy our many freedoms.

Like the right to get drunk and attend mixed martial arts (MMA) events.

Unfortunately for “Chaos,” this new generation of Americans can’t put down their phones long enough to pay respects to anybody, let alone veterans. While there is plenty of blame to go around for that troubling trend, Covington suggests we find better role models.

And less crybaby commies.

“My Grandfather is a Veteran of both Vietnam and The Korean War,” Covington wrote on Twitter. “One day isn’t enough to thank these heroes for their service. Stop looking up to cry baby communist millionaires like [LeBron James] and start looking up to the real heroes of your country and community. The Veterans.”

There’s nothing wrong with looking up to sports stars, but times have changed. Yogi Berra was part of D-Day long before he was a New York Yankee, and NFL hall of famer Roger Staubach served a year-long tour of duty in Vietnam.

As for James — who got into hot water for some recent comments about China — he did not serve in the armed forces, but has been lauded for his activism and humanitarian work, in addition to his own charities.

I’m not sure what Covington has done to justify this latest gripe, outside of brawling in Las Vegas buffet lines, but thanks to his grandfather and those like him, he was born with the freedom to say what he wants.

Covington fights Kamaru Usman for the welterweight title at UFC 245 on Dec. 14 in Las Vegas.
