Jinh Yu Frey vacates atomweight championship at Invicta FC 39 weigh-in

Invicta FC atomweight champion Jinh Yu Frey lost her belt without even stepping into the cage.

Frey missed championship weight at the Invicta FC 39 weigh-in on Thursday, stepping on the scale at 105.8 pounds. Having missed the mark of 105 pounds, Frey vacated her title. Her opponent, Ashley Cummins weighed 104.5 pounds. 

The Invicta FC 39 headliner will continue as a five-round affair with only Cummins eligible to win the title, according to Invicta FC officials. 

The co-main event features UFC veteran Pearl Gonzalez opposite Phoenix Series 2 winner Miranda Maverick for a chance to challenge for a shot at flyweight champion Vanessa Porto.

Flyweight Shanna Young became ill during fight week and did not weigh in. Her opponent, Daiana Torquato successfully made weight and was paid her show money.

  • Flyweight: Erin Blanchfield (125.1) vs. Victoria Leonardo (124.6)
  • Atomweight: Jillian DeCoursey (105.7) vs. Linda Mihalec (105.2)
  • Bantamweight: Tina Pettigrew (135.3) vs. Monica Franco (134.8)

* – Frey missed the championship limit of 105 pounds and vacated her title. She was fined 25 percent of her fight purse. Only Cummins will be eligible to win the title.

# – Young fell ill during fight week and was deemed medically unfit to compete. Torquato was paid her show purse.
