Lima Vs. Mousasi ‘Super’ Fight Coming To San Jose

Douglas Lima vs. Gegard Mousasi | Bellator MMA

Bellator MMA’s “Bader vs. Nemkov” event at SAP Center in San Jose, Calif., on May 9, 2020, just got a new title fight as big as the one previously announced. Company president Scott Coker teased a huge announcement and then delivered with this Tweet:

In effect, the Middleweight title — just relinquished by Rafael Lovato Jr. earlier this week — is now up for grabs in a “super” fight that pairs Welterweight champion Douglas Lima (32-7) against former 185-pound kingpin Gegard Mousasi (46-7-2). Lima’s 170-pound title will not be on the line in this bout, but if successful he’d be the promotion’s third “champ-champ” with two belts.

Meanwhile, existing “champ-champ” Ryan Bader (27-5, 1 NC) will seek to successfully defend his Light Heavyweight crown in the co-main event against rising Russian standout Vadim Nemkov (11-2), who already holds wins over former champions Phil Davis, Rafael Carvalho and Liam McGeary in his last three fights.

No other bouts for San Jose have been announced at this early date, but the event is off to a screaming start.
