Megan Anderson earns UFC Norfolk bonus with one-punch knockout

Following Saturday’s UFC Fight Night: Benavidez vs. Figueiredo event in Norfolk, Virginia, the fight promotion announced the recipients of the performance-based bonuses. Megan Anderson, Kyler Phillips, Gabriel Silva, and Jordan Griffin earned the $50,000 incentives.

Fight of the Night honors went to the bantamweight contest between Phillips and Silva. The back and forth fight headlined the preliminary fight card. It ended in a unanimous decision win for Phillips but earned both of them a bonus.

Anderson was awarded a Performance of the Night bonus for her first-round knockout of Norma Dumont in women’s featherweight action. Dumont came to fight but was finished by a straight right hand that left her on her back at the 3:31 mark of the opening round.

Griffin banked a bonus for his second-round submission win over T.J. Brown in a featherweight bout on the under card.  Brown was able to take Griffin down repeatedly in the first round, but Griffin threatened with a guillotine chokes.  He’d lock one on in the second frame that Brown could not escape.  Brown lost consciousness and the referee stepped in.

The fight card featured 12 bouts and took place at Chartway Arena.  Four fights went the distance, six ended in knockout finishes, and two resulted in submission wins.
