White: UFC Fighters Can’t Wear ‘Bullsh*t’ Costumes

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President, Dana White, doesn’t want his fighters to wear big, goofy costumes en route to the Octagon, probably because it looks silly to see grown men and women cosplaying ahead of a championship mixed martial arts (MMA) fight.

Clearly he’s never seen David Rickels’ velociraptor.

With that in mind, it should not come as a surprise to learn that White was not a fan of the Samurai garb worn by Deontay Wilder before his Tyson Fury rematch last month in Las Vegas, which may or may not have adversely affected his performance.

“If you think about boxing and fights when fighters are getting ready, they’re in the back, they’re relaxing,” White told TMZ Sports. “Some guys sleep. Some guys just lay around and chill. Then you get up, you time it out, do your warm-up. Then you throw something on to stay warm. You don’t put all this gear on and all this stuff. That’s why I don’t do any of that bullshit in the UFC. I don’t like it. I don’t like any of that.”

Except when it takes place at the UFC weigh ins.

Wilder was finished by Fury in the seventh-round of their titanic tilt (highlights here) and despite a legion of fighters hoping to get a piece of the championship pie, their trilogy is currently being planned for this July in “Sin City.”

White has certainly had to endure his fair share of wacky fight night wardrobes. Not only did Brian Ebersole shave “TapouT” into his chest hair (pic), Dennis Hallman wore a banana hammock to the cage at UFC 133 (see it here).
