Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Hall of Famer Urijah Faber will return to the grappling mats to face fellow UFC veteran Dustin Ortiz this Sunday (March 8, 2020) in the headlining match at Copa Podio: “California” inside the Vacaville High School in Vacaville, California.

Faber, a Brazilian jiu-jitsu brown belt, finished 17 of his professional fights via tapout, including six of his wins inside the Octagon. He’s competed in jiu-jitsu super fights in the past as well, notably against young phenom Nicky Ryan. Ortiz is a top-ranked Flyweight with a wrestling background, and his most recent appearance in the Octagon saw some amazing scrambles opposite Joseph Benavidez.

In other notable action, UFC veterans Danny Castillo and Carlos Rocha will face off in a no-gi super fight.

Finally, the card boasts a pair of Grand Prix-style tournaments featuring many of northern California’s top black belts at 77- and 108-kilograms. Copa Podio is a long-time grappling promotion in Brazil, but this will be its first event on American soil.
