The UFC 248 championship bouts will move forward as planned after all four fighters made weight at Friday’s official weigh-in in Las Vegas.
UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya was the first fighter to the scale, quickly hitting the mark at 184.5 pounds. His opponent, Yoel Romero, who has a history of trouble with the scale, made everyone wait until the waining minutes of the weigh-in window. As minds wondered whether or not Romero would make weight, he trotted out to the scale and hit the championship weight dead-on at 185 pounds.
The UFC 248 co-main event pits strawweight champion Zhang Weili against former titleholder Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Neither fighter had an issue with the scale, both weighing in early in the proceedings.
Zhang stepped on the scale at 115 pounds, followed a short time later by Jedrzejczyk, who weighed exactly the same.
The lone fighter to miss the mark on Friday was UFC 248 early prelims featured fighter Emily Whitmire. She weighed 117.5 pounds for her fight with Polyana Viana or a full 1.5 pounds above the limit for a strawweight non-title bout.
Whitmire forfeited 20-percent of her fight purse to Viana to keep the fight on the card.
