Video: James Gallagher leaves mid-interview, goes after Cal Ellenor at Bellator showcase event

NEW YORK – Once wasn’t enough for James Gallagher. He wanted another go at Cal Ellenor.

Gallagher, a rising Bellator bantamweight prospect and Conor McGregor protégé, was two minutes into an interview with MMA Junkie on Monday at Viacom Headquarters when he spotted Ellenor walking into the room. Even though the two men just had a faceoff in which Gallagher shoved Eleanor, “The Strabanimal” wanted to get his hands on his opponent again.

So he went after him.

A member of Bellator’s security team spotted Gallagher walking toward Eleanor and stopped him before he could charge at him. It was brief, and neither man got close to each other.

Afterward, Gallagher returned to continue his interview with MMA Junkie and immediately had this to say.

“I’m in here to show him what’s what, to show that this level of fighter is something he doesn’t know about. It’s something that he can’t even elaborate on. I’m fake this, I’m fake that. It’s all fake until it’s May 16, and I’m on his back, and I’m like this,” Gallagher said as he motioned a downward elbow. “… Whack on the other side, he doesn’t know what’s happening, and there’s blood dripping from his face. We’ll see if that’s fake.”

Gallagher and Ellenor were scheduled to headline Bellator Europe 7 last month in Dublin until Gallagher pulled out with a back injury two weeks prior. They’ve been rebooked to headline Bellator Europe 8 on May 16 in London.

You can watch the incident, as well as MMA Junkie’s full interview from the Bellator showcase media day, in the video above.
