Mike Perry is as exciting a fighter as they come, earning numerous post-fight bonus awards for his performances inside the Octagon, which usually leaves fight fans wanting more. But despite his wildly-entertaining efforts, he hasn’t managed to get over the hump to score his first-ever invite to the big dance in the highly-stacked welterweight division.

But what if he drops down a weight class?

According to “Platinum,” he could easily win Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) gold in any division below 170 pounds, but he has too much power to get down there to play with the “little guys.”

“I could easily be champ if I could fight in any weight class lower than welterweight,” wrote Perry on Twitter. “But I got too much power to get down there with you little guys.”

Indeed, Perry is a pretty big and powerful 170-pounder, so dropping down even to lightweight would be a task. That said, several fighters including Paul Felder, Anthony Pettis, Jorge Masvidal, Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor have competed in both divisions, so it isn’t out of the realm of possibility for Perry to do the same.

Whether or not some of his power diminishes during the drastic weight cut, is another story. If he did manage to make the cut down, what chances do you give him against division king, Khabib Nurmagomedov?
