Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion, Conor McGregor, is using his mega-millions for something other than Spanish villas, fancy supercars, and exotic yachts, which is exactly what I would buy with his level of coin.

Instead, “Notorious” — who recently called upon legislators to shut down the entire country of Ireland — is scooping up pallets of personal protective equipment to help hospitals shorted by the coronavirus pandemic.

“Today I am purchasing myself €1 million euro worth of personal protective equipment to be deployed to all the fighting hospitals in the Leinster region,” McGregor wrote on Twitter. “Where we would be without these brave men and women, I do not know. May God bless over them and keep them safe!”

Ireland currently has 1,329 citizens infected by coronavirus with seven deaths. Just five have recovered to date, though these numbers, much like the evolving stats around the globe, are expected to rise in the coming weeks, if not days.

As for McGregor, he remains unbooked at this time but is likely to make his return to action this summer, or just as soon as UFC is able to hold live events. Until then, fans can look forward to UFC 249 on April 18 in a city to be named.
