Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White has made it pretty clear that he’s moving forward with the UFC 249 pay-per-view (PPV) event, with or without reigning lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Which is why Justin Gaethje has recently entered the chat.
But if “The Highlight” passes on what could be an interim title fight against “El Cucuy,” matchmakers may have welterweight contender Jorge Masvidal to fall back on, or simply book “Gamebred” anyway in the hopes that Kamaru Usman will respond in kind.
Second time I say yes to the crotch sniffing champ, second time he has a date #theresurrection

Doesn’t sound promising.
UFC has also briefly considered trying to book usman v masvidal for April 18 but that is not looking likely at the moment, sources say. https://t.co/9FNAS32OyB

Usman, fresh off his UFC 245 title defense against Colby Covington, was expected to put his 170-pound belt on the line against Masvidal later this summer; however, the coronavirus pandemic has turned the scheduled upside down, so nothing is guaranteed from this point forward.
All we can do now is sit and wait, but we won’t be waiting long because April 18 is just around the corner.
