Smith Details Crazy Home Invasion: ‘No Normal Human Can Fight Like That’

The former Light Heavyweight title challenger had to fight off a crazed man inside his home over the weekend … for about five minutes.

Of all the crazy, stupid things a person can do, breaking into the home of a professional mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter — a recent Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight title contender — is pretty high up the list. But, that’s apparently what Luke Haberman did at 4 a.m. local time in Omaha, Nebraska, gaining access to Anthony Smith’s computer room via an open garage door and then “screaming at the top of his lungs.”

Is (not) normal.

Smith was awakened by his wife, who sequestered their three daughters in a bedroom and closed the door, then “Lionheart” went to address the chaotic situation.

Check out the absurd details (courtesy of ESPN):

[Smith] woke up just after 4 a.m. local time Sunday to a stranger in his Omaha-area home…. Smith was concerned the man had a weapon. Smith said he tried to take him down and the two began fighting…. Smith fights at 205 pounds. Somehow, he said, this man who weighed around 170 pounds was still coming at him, an elite UFC fighter, for minutes.

”I didn’t know what he had,” Smith said. “Typically people don’t break into your house in the middle of the night for any good reasons. I’m expecting that I’m gonna hear a gunshot or he’s gonna stab me. Like he’s got something. I figure I’ve got about two minutes before whatever he’s got takes me out.

”No normal human is able to fight like that,” Smith continued. “I’m by no means the baddest dude on the planet. But he’s a regular Joe and I had a hard time dealing with him. And he took everything that I gave him — every punch, every knee, every elbow. He took every single one of them and kept fighting me.”

Per the report, Haberman was charged with first-degree criminal trespass and released to a local hospital. He apparently said, “Hey man, I’m sorry,” to Smith as he was escorted out of the house.

Smith, who is tentatively scheduled to face hard-hitting veteran Glover Teixeira on April 25, 2020, (tentatively, because who knows in this day and age), said he has no plans of pulling out of that fight and will take necessary precautions to protect his family, including a security system.
