Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) recently announced its return to 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland, for a special ESPN+ “Fight Night” mixed martial arts (MMA) card on Sat., Aug. 15, 2020. But now that coronavirus has much of the world on lockdown, the chances of that event taking place are remote.

Especially with the recent ban on live events.

“Local authorities have been advised by Government that event promoters should be informed that events requiring licenses in excess of 5,000 will not be considered for the period up to the end of August,” the government said in a statement published by Reuters (via MMA Fighting).

Robert Whittaker vs. Darren Till was expected to headline.

The promotion hasn’t been to Dublin since the UFC Fight Night 76: “Holohan vs. Smolka” event on the Fight Pass digital network, featuring the welterweight “Fight of the Night” between Till and Nicolas Darby back in late 2015.

UFC has yet to comment.
