Jones Chasing Ngannou To Escape Reyes Rematch

I guess Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight champion Jon Jones isn’t the only fighter who thinks Francis Ngannou would be unable to break “Bones.” I’m not sure how else to explain recent comments from top 205-pound contender and not-excited fanboy Dominick Reyes.

Reyes believes Jones is doing everything in his power to avoid a potential rematch after barely squeaking past “The Dominator” in their UFC 247 main event back in February. Even if it means facing a murderous power puncher like “The Predator” at 265 pounds.

“Can’t help but feel flattered by Jon doing literally anything he can think of to avoid the rematch,” Reyes wrote on Twitter. “I mean I get it, I’m the most dangerous fight. So let’s get these $$$ up!”

Reyes (12-1) probably would have gotten an immediate rematch had Jones not been able to explore other options. Outside of a high-profile headliner against Ngannou, “Bones” can also entertain top contenders in his own division, like Jan Blachowicz.

One option for “The Dominator” is to face off against Brazilian bruiser Thiago Santos, who like Reyes, took Jones to the scorecards in a closely contested title fight. As for Ngannou, he’s likely to remain inactive until Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier complete their trilogy this summer.
