UFC champ Jon Jones again tempts company to release him after latest Dana White comments

Jon Jones didn’t need long to respond to Dana White’s comments at Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 9 post-fight press conference.

The public spat between UFC light heavyweight champ Jones (26-1 MMA, 20-1 UFC) and company president White has dominated headlines in recent days. It all stemmed from “Bones,” according to White, pushing for a bigger payday to move to heavyweight for a potential showdown with Francis Ngannou, which White has swatted away.

It’s quickly evolved into a more personal feud, though. Jones labeled White a “(expletive) liar,” and encouraged him to release text messages in which he allegedly requested a payday in the realm of $30 million. He also dared the company to release him.

White explained following the UFC’s latest event in Las Vegas that Jones hadn’t made himself worthy of that type of money, and argued that Jones’ history of outside-the-cage issues has held him back from earning more significant paydays.

Jones didn’t take kindly to White’s comment saying, “I tarnished you? You’ve done a very good job of tarnishing you.” Jones fired back on social media (via Twitter):

At no point did I ever demand anything from you Dana, I simply asked for a Super fight and asked to be compensated for it. You are the one who started talking negotiations publicly and showing the world how much you’ve been withholding from your athletes this whole time

Hunter and I had a very respectful conversation, I love how you’re trying to paint this picture of me being some angry guy disrespectfully demanding money. And then bringing up my out of the cage affairs to justify under paying me by tens of millions for years

Jones capped off by doubling down on his request to be let go, and said he could make significantly more in a move to boxing if he was freed of any obligation to the UFC (via Twitter):

You’re talking all that big guy stuff about not caring, put your money where your mouth is and release me from that contract

I’d probably make more in my first boxing match than my next three UFC fights combined. There’s real estate, acting, just kicking it and being a dad. No one needs to put up with Dana‘s lies
