Jorge Masvidal isn’t happy with his current situation.
In a trio of tweets issued Friday, the “BMF” champion voiced his frustrations. His displeasure seemingly was aimed at ongoing negotiations with the UFC.
For weeks, Masvidal (35-13 MMA, 12-6 UFC) has been in talks for a title shot against UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. However, in recent days, all parties involved have hinted that negotiations have slowed.
“If I’m not worth it let me go,” Masvidal wrote in the first tweet.
“Why make me fight for half of what I made on my last fight cause the other dude can’t draw?” he added, minutes later, in a second tweet.
“Don’t tell me about a pandemic when reports today show highest stock market has ever been,” Masvidal wrote, in the third tweet. “Everybody getting back to work and you buying an island. Stop playing us and the fans #theawakening”
With the 170-pound title picture uncertain, UFC president Dana White recently indicated Gilbert Burns could be next for Usman (16-1 MMA, 11-0 UFC). White had previously also named Colby Covington and Leon Edwards as potential on-deck title challengers, but ruled out Conor McGregor
Masvidal has not competed since his “BMF” title fight against Nate Diaz at UFC 244 this past November. At the discretion of the commission physician, the fight was stopped in between the third and fourth rounds due to a cut on Diaz’s face. The victory was Masvidal’s third in a row, adding to back-to-back wins over Ben Askren and Darren Till.
