UFC targeting Darren Till vs. Jack Hermansson for Dec. 5 main event

Major middleweight matchups continue to roll out for the UFC in the second half of 2020.

The UFC currently is targeting 185-pound contenders Darren Till and Jack Hermansson to square off Dec. 5 at a location and venue to be named later.

The fight will only happen pending doctor’s clearance on Till’s left knee, which did not need surgery despite an injury sustained in his July unanimous decision loss to former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker.

A person with knowledge of the situation confirmed the targeted booking to MMA Junkie on Friday but asked to remain anonymous since the promotion has yet to make an official announcement. ESPN was first to report the news.

Till  also confirmed on Instagram, posting an image of the matchup and writing: “You wanted it, you got it.”

Till (18-3-1 MMA, 6-3-1 UFC) enters the fight having lost three of his most recent four outings. After back-to-back stoppage losses to Tyron Woodley and Jorge Masvidal, Till beat Kelvin Gastelum by split decision in November. Till will look to bounce back after the loss to Whittaker on “Fight Island.”

Hermansson (21-5 MMA, 8-3 UFC) has won five of his most recent six fights. After having his four-fight winning streak snapped at the hands of Jared Cannonier in September 2019, Hermansson ran through Kelvin Gastelum in 78 seconds in July and won with a heel hook.
