Renato Moicano has his second lightweight fight booked.
Moicano (14-3-1 MMA, 6-3 UFC) will face Magomed Mustafaev (15-3 MMA, 3-2 UFC) at the UFC’s Oct. 17 event, which is expected to take place at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi.
A person with knowledge of the situation confirmed the booking to MMA Junkie on Tuesday following an initial report from Combate.
After suffering back-to-back stoppage losses to Jose Aldo and Chan Sung Jung, Moicano moved up to lightweight and submitted Damir Hadzovic in the first round at UFC on ESPN+ 28 in March.
Mustafaev has lost two of his past three and is coming off a split decision loss to Brad Riddell in February. Prior to that, he scored a “Performance of the Night” finish over Rafael Fiziev.
The latest lineup for UFC’s Oct. 17 card includes:
- Brian Ortega vs. Chan Sung Jung
- Poliana Botelho vs. Gillian Robertson
- Jimmy Crute vs. Modestas Bukauskas
- Muslim Salikhov vs. Claudio Silva
- John Phillips vs. Jun Yong Park
- Renato Moicano vs. Magomed Mustafaev
