LFA 89 highlights: Brant Moore Jr. closes in on lightweight title shot

The LFA cage headed to Sioux Falls, South Dakota Friday night for LFA 89 as a host of rising prospect secured impressive victories to raise their stock on their quest to catch the attention of the world’s top global promotions.

In the night’s main event, Brant Moore Jr. (8-1) earned a unanimous decision victory over former “The Ultimate Fighter” graduate Joe Giannetti (9-3) to move one step closer to a shot at the LFA lightweight title currently held by Bryce Logan.

Moore used his wresting and grappling skills to drag Giannetti to the mat, where he pressured with submission attempts and ground and pound. To his credit, Giannetti hung tough and took the bout all the way to the scorecards, but it was Moore’s night, as the Texas native claimed the decision win and extended his winning streak to six, with his last three coming under the LFA banner.

The co-main event saw Demarques Jackson (11-4) snap a two-fight losing streak with an impressive first-round submission of in-form Adrian Hadribeaj (10-2) in their welterweight contest.

Despite conceding five inches in height to his opponent, Jackson took advantage of Hadribeaj’s speedy follow-up after a chopping leg kick to take his opponent to the mat with a single-leg takedown. Once the action was on the mat, the Sanford MMA-trained fighter swiftly locked up a rear-naked choke to secure an eye-catching first-round finish.

Also on the main ard, Brazil’s Ricardo Dias and Contender Series alum Desmond Torres went back and forth in three competitive rounds in their bantamweight clash, but it was Dias’ heavier hands that proved the difference-maker as he earned a razor-thin split-decision victory.
