Former interim Welterweight champion Colby Covington will face off against his bitter rival, Tyron Woodley, this Saturday night (Sept. 19, 2020) at UFC Vegas 11 from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada in a fight several years in the making.

Before then, let us take a trip down Memory Lane to see Covington’s record-setting performance against Robbie Lawler. Back in August of 2019, “Chaos” and “Ruthless” headlined UFC on ESPN 5 in Newark, New Jersey in a battle of American Top Team (ATT) colleagues.

From the jump, Covington came out aggressive as usual, smothering the former 170-pound champion with his relentless pace. To nobody’s surprise, “Chaos” did a lot of his work in the wrestling department, scoring some takedowns and smothering Lawler up against the cage during the clinch, But what really set Covington apart in this fight was his striking output, as he set a record of 541 thrown strikes in a fight.

That was good enough to earn Colby a unanimous decision win, setting him up for a championship fight against Kamaru Usman at UFC 245 a few short months later. “Chaos” went on to lose via fifth round technical knockout (TKO) to the champ, suffering a fractured jaw in the process.

Now, Covington will look to get back on track in his first fight in 10 months against a man he’s been wanting to put hands on for some time now. With a win over Woodley, Covington can jump back to the front of the line in his quest to recapture UFC gold.
