Chan Sung Jung ’embarrassed’ by Brian Ortega loss: ‘I’m just a fool’

Chan Sung Jung says he wasn’t all there for the final three rounds of Saturday’s main event loss to Brian Ortega at UFC on ESPN+ 38.

Jung (16-6 MMA, 6-3 UFC) suffered a lopsided unanimous decision loss to Ortega (15-1 MMA, 7-1 UFC) in their featherweight title eliminator at Flash Forum at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. “The Korean Zombie” couldn’t get anything going in the fight, and the big spinning elbow that dropped him early on appears to the be the culprit.

According to Jung, he doesn’t remember fighting the third, fourth or fifth rounds after the big strike landed, and it played a role in the outcome.

Jung said that he feels humiliated having lost such an important bout, and now he intends to return to the drawing board and find out where things went wrong (via Instagram):

I don’t remember the third, fourth and fifth rounds. I can’t remember, but it’s amazing to see how I’m fighting..haha.. I have to find out why I lost when I lose the game. Right, I’m just a fool. Ortega was so good… I just feel so embarrassed about me now. Still, thank you for supporting me a lot. I’m sorry.

When the fifth round was about one minute left, my mind returned. So, at the end of the fifth round, I knew if the fourth round would start. ㅋㅋ Rounds 3, 4, and 5 were just… fights. Obviously, I was expecting to be South Po, and I prepared a lot, and Eddie coach also ordered properly.. Gym left-handed players are using the technique of harassing left-handed athletes. But… haha If I play again, I want to prepare for the third round. #Now it’s really okay #I’m okay with blaming mockery #Hahaha #I’m so sorry for only one person

The loss for Jung snapped a two-fight streak and again caused him to fall short of fighting for a UFC title again. He was unable to win a single round against Ortega. All three judges scored it 50-45 for “T-City.”
