Bryce Mitchell gets his wish; Reebok produces camo shorts for UFC on ESPN+ 39

After much campaigning, Bryce Mitchell has finally gotten his wish.

The UFC and its official apparel partner, Reebok, have granted Mitchell’s ongoing request to produce camouflage shorts inside the cage.

Mitchell (13-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC) will debut the new fight trunks when he steps into the octagon Saturday to fight Andre Fili (21-7 MMA, 9-6 UFC) in the UFC on ESPN+ 39 co-main event, which takes place at UFC Apex in Las Vegas and streams on ESPN+.

UFC president Dana White shared an image of the shorts on social media on Tuesday (via Twitter):

The shorts marks the first time in the Reebok era that fully customized apparel will be allowed in the cage. The UFC’s deal with Reebok ends in April before a new one begins with Venum.

Mitchell, an avid hunter and fisherman, has long asked for camouflage shorts through his post-fight interviews and social media accounts. Following his December 2019 twister submission against Matt Sayles, Mitchell called out Reebok in his post-fight interview.

“Reebok, y’all going to have to kill me or make me some camo shorts because I ain’t shutting up until then,” Mitchell screamed into the microphone.

After his most recent performance at UFC 249 in May, a dominant unanimous decision victory over Charles Rosa, White confirmed he’d be granting Mitchell’s ongoing wish – a promise he’s now upheld.
