Uriah Hall is entering one of the biggest fights of his career later this evening (Sat., Oct. 31, 2020) at UFC Vegas 12 live on ESPN+ from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, when “Prime Time” takes on former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva in the main event.

While much of the attention will be on Silva as he prepares to make his final walk to the Octagon Hall has just as much invested in this 185-pound headliner. Having won three out of his last four UFC appearances, Hall is hoping to capture the biggest win of his career and finally make his push towards title contention in 2021.

Hall, 36, hasn’t quite lived up to expectation since his UFC debut back in 2013, but “Prime Time” has looked considerably better over the past three years. The veteran contender feels ready to test the upper echelon of the division and make his push towards current UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya, who Hall doesn’t seem to respect all too much.

“Adesanya’s picking his fights,” said Hall during UFC Vegas 12’s virtual media day. “He sees what I see, he sees a hole in all these guys. He’s already picking [Jared] Cannonier, he’s looking for easy fights. Yeah, I said it.

“I know why he’s picking certain fights, but I’m dynamic, especially with the gym that I’m at right now, I’m focused. Laser focused. It’s just a matter of time. I’m just going to play the politic card and just whoever the UFC needs me to beat, or whoever the UFC thinks can beat me and get to the top.”

Even though Hall is one of the most talented fighters at 185 pounds he’s struggled to maintain consistency over the years. After dropping high-profile bouts to Robert Whittaker, Paulo Costa, Gegard Mousasi, and even Derek Brunson, “Prime Time” is hoping to knock off Silva on Halloween and prove he can finally win the big fight.

“After that, I’m looking to get into the top five. Whoever’s in the top five. Cause my ultimate goal right now is to fight the champ. I want the champ. That’s it,” said Hall.

Adesanya, who has dominated the middleweight division since his arrival in 2018, wasted little time responding to Hall’s claim that he picks “easy fights.” It’s hard to forget the level of competition that Adesanya is facing given his reign of excellence, but “Last Stylebender” holds knockout wins over Whittaker, Costa, and Brunson, all guys who took out Hall.

“I like him. Nice guy. But plz stfufe,” wrote Adesanya.

Only time will tell if Hall is able to topple Silva at UFC Vegas 12 and capture the defining win he’s looking for. If he does then “Prime Time” should land an even more meaningful bout in early 2021. One that could put him on the doorstep of the middleweight top five.
