Highlights! Teixeira Chokes Out Santos, Stakes Claim For Title Shot

Glover Teixeira solidified himself as the No. 1 light heavyweight contender last night (Sat., Nov. 7, 2020) at UFC Vegas 13 live on ESPN+ from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, when the veteran submitted former title challenger Thiago Santos via third-round rear-naked choke.

Despite a 16-month layoff, Santos came out guns blazing and leveled Teixeira with a vicious combination. Teixeira survived it like he typically does and returned the favor by taking Santos down and scoring heavy punches from the top. Teixeira went back to the well in the second and continued to pepper Santos with shots from half guard. He maintained the same position before nearly choking “Marreta” out as the second round ended.

In the third, Santos rocked Teixeira with a huge punch and started to implement his own ground-and-pound. Teixeira survived the onslaught and then reversed positioning. He quickly took Santos’ back and sunk in the tight rear-naked choke.
