UFC 259’s Randy Costa hopes to continue gaining promotional push with fan-friendly style

Randy Costa is off to a promising start in his UFC career and he’s looking to continue riding that momentum.

After dropping his UFC debut to Brandon Davis in April 2019, Costa rebounded with back-to-back first-round knockouts over Boston Salmon and a bonus-winning head kick of Journey Newson.

Although he’s still young in his career, Costa (6-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) knows if he continues to produce highlight-reel finishes, he’ll have a fast rise in the promotion.

“I’m a humble guy. I’m a realistic guy. I know that I don’t have a lot of experience,” Costa told MMA Junkie Radio. “I knocked out two guys, but I lost my debut, so I am in a tricky spot. I think I’m in a very good spot based on my performances. I think I have a very fan-friendly style. I had the opportunity to sign a new contract with the UFC … so this will be my first fight on the new deal. I’m just happy to know that the UFC does see some potential in me, does see that there’s some stock that can be grown in me.

“I hope that they give me the push that I feel – I feel like I have a style that I always wanted to watch. I wanted to watch someone go out there and just be a gun slinger and throw bombs, and I think I have what they’re looking for. I hope the UFC just builds me, and I’m going to keep doing my job. I’m going to keep going out there and knock people out. That’s what people like to see. That’s what I like to do and that’s what’s fun to me.”

Costa, who’s recently been spending time in Florida training at both American Top Team and Sanford MMA, is scheduled to face Trevin Jones at UFC 259 on March 6, where he’ll look to make it three wins in a row.
