Tony Ferguson warned Charles Oliveira that any weight-cutting mishaps would result in the cancellation of their lightweight fight, scheduled for the UFC 256 co-main event this Sat. night (Dec. 12, 2020) inside APEX facility in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Brazilian doesn’t sound overly concerned.

“Tony Ferguson needs to worry about his own weight,” Oliveira told reporters during the UFC 256 media day (watch it here).

Oliveira, 31, consistently struggled to make the 145-pound limit, but has yet to miss weight as a lightweight. That’s why coach Diego Lima believes “El Cucuy” is worried about the size of “Do Bronx” ahead of their 155-pound showdown in “Sin City.”

“I am really happy with that statement from Ferguson, it just shows how worried he is about Charles’ size,” Lima told Sherdog.com. “It’s important to note that Charles had problems at featherweight but he never missed weight at 155. On Wednesday morning he woke up weighing 162 pounds. We still have two days left to lose seven pounds.”

This is an extremely important bout for both fighters, as well as the division overall, now that lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is retired. The next title shot is up for grabs and the winner of Oliveira vs. Ferguson could end up fighting the winner of this fight.

The UFC 256 weigh ins get underway in less than 24 hours.
