PFL’s four-part ‘Randy Couture Story’ series debuts Saturday on ESPN

One of the most accomplished and well-known fighters to ever do it is getting the big-time documentary treatment.

UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture, a former heavyweight and light heavyweight champion, is the subject of a four-part documentary series from PFL Studios. “The Randy Couture Story” has the first of its four episodes set for a debut Saturday at 2:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.

After the first episode airs, all four parts of the series will be available on demand through ESPN+, PFL announced Tuesday.

According to the PFL Studios, the series “will look back at the most significant moments in Couture’s career while providing viewers with an intimate look at his involvement with the PFL through commentating, his Hollywood pursuits, and other endeavors beyond the cage.”

Chuck Liddell, actor Chris Pratt, Jay Glazer and John McCarthy are among the notable names who will be part of the series.

“It was a privilege for PFL Studios to produce ‘The Randy Couture Story,’ he is an MMA legend, a true champion and an incredible person who inspired so many, as viewers of this series on ESPN will see,” PFL CEO Peter Murray stated. “Randy defined the sport of MMA, and we are proud to have him as part of the PFL family.”

The series will go inside Couture’s rise to in the game, “from the ultimate underdog to finally cementing his legacy and helping build MMA into a global mainstream sport.”

“It’s an awesome feeling to have my own documentary series chronicling my journey as an MMA athlete and everything I’ve done outside of the cage,” Couture stated. “The PFL is a global fighter-first organization and I wholeheartedly believe in the format and everything they are doing as a leader in the sport. I’ve been through so much in my life and I know how hard the PFL team has worked on this series. I can’t wait to watch it – it’s going to be special.”

After taking off all of 2020 due to the pandemic, the PFL returns for its 2021 season starting April 23 on ESPN2, ESPN Deportes and ESPN+. Additional regular season events are set for April 29, May 6, June 10, June 17 and June 25.
