It’s perhaps moot now that we know who’s next in line for UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman.

But after his comments this past Saturday, many in the MMA sphere were talking about Leon Edwards and his hope that he would still get a shot at Usman – despite the fact his UFC Fight Night 187 main event with Belal Muhammad ended in a no contest after an accidental eye poke.

Edwards came back from more than 600 days off, saw his return fight end in a no contest, and said he thought there was no need to run things back with Muhammad – just make him next for Usman. To paraphrase, Muhammad said he thought the Brit was nuts.

Monday, we found out Usman will rematch Jorge Masvidal in the UFC 261 main event next month. So if Edwards wants a title shot, it appears he’ll have to wait out the result of that fight, at minimum.

But before we knew that was a fight that was happening, we asked our panel on this week’s episode of “Spinning Back Clique” if Edwards was crazy for wanting to be next. Check out the video above to hear “Georgeous” George Garcia, Nolan King, Farah Hannoun and moderator Simon Head weigh in. You can also watch the complete episode below.
