PFL announces Kenny Florian as part of new-look broadcast team for 2021

Ken-Flo is back, and he’ll be calling fights for the PFL in 2021.

Middleweight finalist from the inaugural season of “The Ultimate Fighter” and three-time UFC title challenger Kenny Florian has been unveiled as the latest new face to join the PFL. The 44-year-old will form part of the promotion’s live broadcast team, where he will work alongside UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture, and play-by-play man and 2018 PFL light heavyweight champion Sean O’Connell.

After amassing a 14-6 record that included lightweight title fights against Sean Sherk and B.J. Penn, as well as a featherweight title tilt against Jose Aldo, Florian retired from the cage and became a mainstay on Fox Sports’ UFC coverage as an analyst and presenter. He was briefly suspended by the network in 2016 following allegations of plagiarism, and didn’t follow many of his UFC on Fox colleagues when the broadcast rights switched to ESPN in 2018.

Now Florian is back and said he is keen to get back into the job of calling fights once again.

“I’m very excited to be a part of the PFL family and this season looks to be the best one yet,” said Florian, via press release. “Breaking down MMA fights and high-level martial arts techniques is what I enjoy most, and I’m elated to be a part of the tremendous commentary team to get a chance to do just that.”

PFL CEO Peter Murray hailed Florian’s arrival on the broadcast team, saying, “We are very excited to add someone as knowledgeable and charismatic as Kenny to our booth calling all the action this season alongside Randy and Sean. With his passion for the sport and experience inside the cage, Kenny will bring excitement and wisdom to every call to ensure our fans enjoy our made-for-TV events. This team will bring invaluable insight every night, and coupled with the leadership of broadcast visionary George Greenberg, the PFL will be delivering a can’t-miss production throughout 2021.”

The PFL’s 2021 season gets underway on April 23, and will be aired on ESPN 2, ESPN Deportes and ESPN+. Further events will take place on April 29, May 6, and June 10, 17, and 25.
