UFC Vegas 26, already down a flyweight bout after this weight-cutting disaster, will now say goodbye to a heavyweight contest after Philipe Lins fell ill and was ruled medically unfit to compete on tomorrow night’s (Sat., May 8, 2021) fight card at APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“I made the weight, ready to go,” Rothwell wrote on social media. “Unfortunately my opponent has gotten ill today and the fight has been scratched. Philipe Lins I hope you are okay and can recover.”

This is the second time the Rothwell vs. Lins fight has been tossed. The pair were previously scheduled for UFC Vegas 21 last March; however, “Big” Ben suffered a minor injury leading up to the fight and their bout was postponed.

No word yet on whether or not the promotion will try to book them a third time.

UFC Vegas 26 will be headlined by a flyweight showdown between strawweight contenders Marina Rodriguez and Michelle Waterson. Elsewhere on the card, veteran bruisers Donald Cerrone and Alex Morono hook ‘em up at 170 pounds.
