Darrion Caldwell expects Leandro Higo rematch to be replay: ‘It’s just a different level’

UNCASVILLE, Conn. – Darrion Caldwell is back in the bantamweight division, and the former Bellator champion has his eyes set on the title he once held.

Ahead of his Bellator 259 co-main event clash Friday against Leandro Higo, Caldwell (15-4 MMA, 12-3 BMMA) spoke to MMA Junkie on a host of topics at Wednesday’s media day. “The Wolf” discussed his recent loss to A.J. McKee, his move to Sanford MMA, dropping back down to 135 pounds, and the state of the division.

Additionally, Caldwell, who submitted Higo (20-5 MMA, 3-3 BMMA) at Bellator 195 in March 2018, revealed his prediction for the fight. He sees it going down very similarly to the first meeting.

“I think as soon as I get my hands on him, it’s going to be a wrap,” Caldwell told MMA Junkie. “I really feel like I can break this kid. He just doesn’t have much for me. He’s a decent fighter, don’t get me wrong, but it’s just a different level. I respect Leandro, and I respect what he does and how hard (he goes). He’s got a warrior’s mindset, but he’s just not me.

Bellator 259 takes place Friday at Mohegan Sun Arena. The main card airs on Showtime after prelims on MMA Junkie.
