Fabricio Werdum, Mohammed Usman withdrawals shake up PFL 6, heavyweight season

The PFL heavyweight division has taken a hit going into the second half of the regular season.

Fabricio Werdum and Mohammed Usman have been forced to withdraw from their respective matchups June 25 at 2021 PFL 6, leaving the promotion to make some adjustments.

Werdum (24-9-1), who was supposed to fight Brandon Sayles, was not medically cleared to compete, according to promotion officials. Usman (7-2), meanwhile, suffered an injury in training that will prevent him from making it to the cage for his planned matchup with Denis Goltsov.

As a result, Sayles (6-1) and Goltsov (26-6) have been paired up against one another as the company pushes forward with its regular season plans.

2021 PFL 6 takes place at the Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, N.J. The main card airs on ESPN2 following prelims on ESPN+.
