UFC free fight: Chan Sung Jung batters Frankie Edgar in first round

Chan Sung Jung continued to show off his finishing instincts when he took on a battle-tested former champion.

Jung faced short-notice replacement Frankie Edgar in the main event of UFC Fight Night 165, which took place December 2019 in his home country of South Korea.

It didn’t take long for “The Korean Zombie” to get the job done. He patiently looked to time his counters. He stuffed an early takedown attempt from Edgar and shortly after, he tagged him with a short counter left hook which wobbled him and spelt the beginning of the end.

Jung poured it on with a beautiful flurry that dropped Edgar, flattening out the former lightweight champion with some ground-and-pound. Jung let him back up, but sat him down with another combination, forcing the referee to jump in and stop the fight.

Jung (16-6 MMA, 6-3 UFC) returns to action Saturday when he takes on Dan Ige (15-3 MMA, 7-2 UFC) in the main event of UFC on ESPN 25, which takes place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

Before he faces Ige, relive Jung’s finish of Edgar in the video above.
