Longtime featherweight contender Chan Sung Jung will look to keep his place in the featherweight Top 5 when he collides with No. 8-ranked Dan Ige in the UFC Vegas 29 main event, scheduled for Sat., June 19, 2021 inside APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Unfortunately for “The Korean Zombie,” Ige has other plans.

“I see his durability and his toughness, but you can take damage from certain guys, he can’t take damage from me,” Ige told Just Scrap Radio. “The way I see the fight playing out is I’m 100 percent prepared to go five rounds and put on a grinding pace but I’m going to be looking for the finish at all times.”

Jung (16-6), who turned 34 back in March, watched his two-fight win streak go up in smoke at the hands of Brian Ortega, who buried “The Korean Zombie” back in Oct. 2020, stealing a title shot — as well as a TUF 29 coaching gig — along the way.

As for the 29 year-old Ige (15-3), he rebounded from a disappointing loss to Calvin Kattar at UFC on ESPN 13 by smashing Gavin Tucker back in March. “50k” is 7-1 over the last three years and now has a chance to jump into title contention with a victory over Jung.

“If I beat the ‘Zombie,’ I could earn a number one contender fight,” Ige continued. “Or, even a title shot based on the circumstances. I have to put on a winning streak against the top of the world. My goal is to be a champion and it starts on June 19 against the Korean Zombie.”

UFC Vegas 29 will also feature the welterweight showdown between Matt Brown and Dhiego Lima. Elsewhere on the card, Aleksei Oleinik and Serghei Spivac hook ‘em up in heavyweight action, while Davey Grant and Marlon Vera collide at 135 pounds.
