Pena Arrested On Charges Of Robbery, Battery

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight Luis Pena was arrested on Friday and charged with robbery by sudden snatching, battery and criminal mischief.

This is according to online jail records obtained by MMA Fighting.

On Friday, the Coral Springs Police Department picked up Pena on an extradition warrant that was issued by another police department in a different county of Florida. It is unknown at this time which department issued the original warrant, but Pena was reportedly picked up on an anonymous tip.

“It was actually called in by another police department for us to go and get him, and then we had an independent person tell us where he was, and they took him into custody under that warrant,” Christian Swinson, a public information officer for the Coral Springs police department, told MMA Fighting.

The details of the charges are also unknown at this time, but Swinson did say the charges for robbery and battery are currently pending trial. If convicted, Pena could face up to five years in prison and $5,000 in fines just for the charge of robbery by sudden snatching, which is a third-degree felony in the state of Florida.

Pena, 27, is one of the more promising young talents coming up in the UFC’s lightweight division. The man known as “Violent Bob Ross” most recently captured a decision win over Alexander Munoz back in April. It helped Pena get back into the UFC win column after getting submitted by Khama Worthy in June 2020.

While no additional details are available at this time Pena did post the below message to social media earlier this week, suggesting he finally reached out for help pertaining to his ongoing “mental health issues.”
