Former UFC title challenger Dominick Reyes undergoes surgery on meniscus

Dominick Reyes will try to be as healthy as possible for his next UFC fight after undergoing surgery.

Reyes (12-3 MMA, 6-3 UFC), a former light heavyweight title challenger, had a successful procedure Thursday to repair damage to the meniscus in his left knee. He shared the news on his Instagram story.

The typical timeline for Reyes’ recovery can range between four and eight weeks.

When “The Dominator” does get back in the octagon, he will be fighting to snap a three-bout losing skid. After starting his career undefeated, Reyes fell short of the 205-pound belt in a controversial decision against Jon Jones, was stopped by Jan Blachowicz in a vacant title fight, then proceeded to suffer a brutal knockout to Jiri Prochazka in a “Fight of the Year” candidate.

The 31-year-old Reyes currently No. 9 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie light heavyweight rankings.
