McGregor Restrained During VMAs Scuffle

Seems like every time they let former UFC champ Conor McGregor into the Barclays Center he does something stupid.

The good news is, no buses were harmed during his latest meltdown. According to a report from TMZ, “Notorious” ran into rapper Machine Gun Kelly (MGK) on the red carpet of the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), which is somehow still a thing after 37 years.

The original VMAs were hosted by Dan Ackroyd and Bette Midler, just to give you an idea of how times have changed. This year’s host? None other than “Doja Cat,” which Google tells me is not the animated cop from Last Action Hero.

Anyway, McGregor approached MGK and attempted to either greet him or get a photo op (details vary by report) but got pushed away by the Texan’s security team, which led to a thrown drink, a lost cane, and all-around chaos for about 30 seconds.

Check out some of the highlights below:

McGregor is only two months removed from major surgery to repair a broken leg suffered against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. One slip, push, or bad step and his night could have ended in catastrophe.

Fortunately, nobody got hurt and McGregor was able to present.

“Absolutely nothing (happened),” McGregor told Entertainment Tonight. “I don’t know. I just showed up and I don’t know. I don’t even know the guy to be honest with you. Just rumors. Nothing happened with me. I only fight real fighters. People that actually fight. I certainly don’t fight little Vanilla Ice white rappers. I don’t even know the guy. I don’t know anything about him, except that he’s with Megan Fox.”

McGregor is tentatively scheduled to make his UFC return in late 2022.
