UFC Vegas 37 odds: Latest betting lines and gambling guide for ‘Smith vs Spann’

Get a detailed breakdown of the betting lines for UFC Vegas 37, which is set to hit UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, this weekend (Sat., Sept. 18, 2021), including best bets, underdogs, favorites and much more!

Journeyman-turned-contender meets prospect-turned-contender this Saturday (Sept. 18, 2021) when Light Heavyweight standouts Anthony Smith and Ryan Spann collide in UFC Vegas 37’s main event. UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, will also host a clash between Ion Cutelaba and Devin Clark, as well as veteran Flyweight finisher Ariane Lipski taking on undefeated UFC newcomer, Mandy Bohm.

UFC 266 is looming, and that means it’s time to raise the money to buy it. Here’s how …

What Went Wrong at UFC Vegas 36?

Jack Shore, Marc-Andre Barriault and Derek Brunson all performed as expected. And, honestly, so did Charles Jourdain, exploiting Julian Erosa’s poor defense to land murderous haymakers. The problem was, “Juicy J” actually managed to survive and turn the tables, which definitely wasn’t in the script. Still, a decent profit overall.

UFC Vegas 37 Odds For The Undercard:

Nikolas Motta (-310) vs. Cameon VanCamp (+255)
Tafon Nchukwi (-125) vs. Mike Rodriguez (+105)
Raquel Pennington (-130) vs. Pannie Kianzad (+110)
Dakota Bush (-130) vs. Rongzhu (+110)
Montel Jackson (-600) vs. JP Buys (+450)
Erin Blanchfield (-310) vs. Sarah Alpar (+250)
Impa Kasanganay (-117) vs. Carlston Harris (-103)
Alatengheili (-127) vs. Gustavo Lopez (+107)
Emily Whitmire (-120) vs. Hannah Goldy (+100)

Thoughts: Six pick-’em fights and three blowouts … not ideal. However, the good news is we can work with Pannie Kianzad, Erin Blanchfield and Carlston Harris, all of whom look like solid investments from where I’m sitting.

I acknowledge that Raquel Pennington has made a career out of defying the odds, but I’m a little surprised to see her as the favorite here. She’s 2-3 in her last five bouts, one of those wins a very narrow one against Irene Aldana, while Kianzad is on a four-fight win streak. “Banzai” looks to have a clear edge on the feet and has shown solid defensive grappling in recent efforts, seemingly priming her for a sprawl-and-brawl victory you’d be wise to bank on.

I gushed about Blanchfield’s skills in my “Prelims” analysis and I’ll gush more in my “New Blood” article later this week. She’s a terrific ground artist with steadily improving stand up and wrestling, giving her more than enough tools to beat the largely one-note Sarah Alpar. Unless dropping from Bantamweight to Flyweight has fundamentally transformed “Too Sweet” as a fighter, Blanchfield will dominate wherever the fight goes.

Impa Kasanganay is a very promising young man with plenty of physical gifts. That said, the takedown-heavy attack he used against Sasha Palatnikov puts him right in Harris’ wheelhouse, and his solid striking suffers from a lack of stopping power. Harris is more seasoned, a more dangerous submission artist, and has enough pop in his hands to at least hold his own on the feet.

It’s worth a look, I’d say.

Ah, what the hell, let’s throw Emily Whitmire in there as well. Both she and Hannah Goldy are on two-fight losing streaks, but “Spitfire’s” defeats came against lethal ground artists in Amanda Ribas and Polyana Viana. She’s more than skilled enough to punish Goldy the way Miranda Granger and Diana Belbita did, so I say she deserves your trust.

UFC Vegas 37 Odds For The Main Card:

Anthony Smith (-167) vs. Ryan Spann (+147)
Ion Cutelaba (-145) vs. Devin Clark (+125)
Ariane Lipski (-120) vs. Mandy Bohm (EVEN)
Arman Tsarukyan (-750) vs. Christos Giagos (+525)
Joaquin Buckley (-200) vs. Antonio Arroyo (+170)
Tony Gravely (-210) vs. Nate Maness (+175)

Thoughts: Mandy Bohm is undervalued at even odds, and while Tony Gravely is the rightful favorite, there’s still value in him.

Here’s the thing: I’m a huge fan of Ariane Lipski. She’s a genuinely ferocious striker with scary power for her size. Unfortunately, she’s just completely inept on the ground, meaning that anyone capable of executing a basic takedown automatically becomes a bargain. Though Bohm has some noteworthy defensive issues, she’s an underrated wrestler, which makes her worth an investment in my book.

Gravely is legitimately one of the best Bantamweight wrestlers in the game, an absolute monster on the mat. He’s more than skilled enough to take advantage of the lapses Nate Maness showed in previous UFC fights, most notably in his debut against Johnny Munoz Jr. Gravely has gassed in the past, so he’s not a complete gimme, but he’s still a quality investment.

UFC Vegas 37 Best Bets:

  • Parlay — Pannie Kianzad and Erin Blanchfield: Bet $150 to make $267
  • Parlay — Carlston Harris and Tony Gravely: Bet $100 to make $191
  • Parlay — Emily Whitmire and Mandy Bohm: Bet $100 to make $267

UFC Vegas 37 is a strange card, to be sure, but one that’s likely to be worth watching. See you Saturday, Maniacs.
