Alex Polizzi looking to close the distance and engage in wear-and-tear battle with Grant Neal

SAN JOSE, Calif. – Alex Polizzi’s game plan won’t change heading into Bellator 266.

Polizzi (8-1 MMA, 2-1 BMMA) meets Grant Neal in the featured prelim Saturday, and he’ll look to bounce the prospect out of the ranks of the unbeaten.

A submission specialist, Polizzi has no issues tussling on the ground with former Colorado state wrestling champion Neal (6-0 MMA, 5-0 BMMA).

“I know a lot of the same stuff has been attached to me: the smaller guy, compact, and it’s going to be interesting to where we end up going in terms of his game plan,” Polizzi told MMA Junkie. “It may sound a little silly giving away mine, but mine’s basically the same each time. I’m trying to stay close, I’m trying to do damage and whether that’s some dirty boxing or if it stays close and sticks to the ground, I’m more than happy to play that game with him. I’m really just hoping to keep it tight and get some wearing and tearing and do some damage.

“We’ll see where the fight takes us. Hopefully it stays nice and close where I’m comfortable, but if it ends up being something where we stay a little further apart, we’ve been training for that, too.”

Bellator 266 takes place Saturday at SAP Center and airs on Showtime following prelims on MMA Junkie.
